LoRa Prototype Kits from Ennovation

Vision of IoT and LPWA

IoT has huge diversity in connectivity, ranges from PAN/LAN/WAN. However, deployment different technologies in real projects bring very high cost in R&D, manufacture, inventory management, operation and maintenance. There are many merges in TMT/IoT industries, since these companies want to merge these standards and market segments.

If we focus on Low Data Rate and Long Range applications, we can find several competitors, including LoRa, Sigfox, NB-IOT. Up to now, Sigfox keeps as a proprietary solution. NB-IOT is an open standard, but most of the small accounts cannot get modules from HUAWEI and leading suppliers. Among these standards, LoRa is an open solution for any players in the market. Although SX1301 based concentrator still protected under NDA with Semtech, we can use much simpler solution with regular LoRa transceiver to serve smaller IoT network.

About Ennovation

Ennovation LLC., is a Shanghai based design house for Semiconductors as well as IoT applications. During its development of custom long range beacon project, the company collect many open source designs in LoRa hardware, firmware and software. And Ennovation find the traditional OEM approach is still active in IoT, especially in an open source driven market. Therefore, Ennovation decides to resell the boards with pre-built firmware to the market to make LoRa a de-facto commodities in the IoT market. The customer can purchase the hardware and deploy them in final project, with less effort on hardware manufacture.

Hardware Product Lines

- LoRa breakout board, based upon mature RF modules, for 433/868/915MHz, 3/5V compatible, IEEE802.15.4g/LoRa enabled, can work with any MCU.

Firmware Lines

If the designer wants to build a LoRaWAN compatible system, please use SX1301 concentrator with packet forwarder firmware, as well as network router/server in cloud. Instead, the developer can reuse LoRaMAC with RadioHead to setup a simpler star topology IoT network.

- Open source LoRaMAC from Semtech/mbed
- Open source LoRaWAN from Semtech/mbed
- Open source RadioHead from Github
- Open source LoRa MAC clones for 8051/STM8/AVR/MSP430/Arduino/mbed

Software Lines

LoRaWAN based designs demand a complete commercial software in cloud, please refer a complete list from LoRa official website. For LoRaMAC based network, the developer can reuse open source SX127X based single-channel node as central concentrator, or use multiple SX127X to increase node counts.

- Open source SX127X packet forwarder in Raspberry Pi.
- IBM node-red front-end.
- MQTT services.
- Twisted + Cyclone + zeromq IoT infrastructure

Deliveries

- Ship after testing, with prebuilt firmware of Ping-Pong.
- Sell only for counts >= 2 to demonstrate Ping-Pong firmware.
- DHL only for countries outside of P.R.China
- Regular express delivery service inside of P.R.China, you can use your own forwarder.
